ICAPP Update (26-03)
Passing away of H.E. Jose de Venecia, Jr. Dear
Distinguished Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee, I
am deeply saddened to convey attached letter from Madam Georgina P. de Venecia,
Member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, and also beloved
wife of H.E. Jose de Venecia, Jr., Founding Chairman and Chairman Emeritus of the
ICAPP Standing Committee, formally informing us the passing away of JDV today, on
February 10, 2026. First
and foremost, on behalf of the ICAPP, I extend my sincere condolences and
sympathies to his bereaved family, his associates, and the people of the
Republic of the Philippines on this profound loss. JDV
was a visionary leader who devoted his life to the service of humanity. Beyond
national borders, he emerged as a principal architect of parliamentary
diplomacy in Asia, and sustained dialogue among political leaders and parties
through promoting understanding. Most
of all, as the founding father of the ICAPP, he devoted the last quarter
century of his career to an organization built on trust, inclusiveness, and
mutual respect. Under his vision, ICAPP became a unique platform that bring
together political parties of diverse ideologies, cultures, and traditions in
the shared pursuit of regional peace, stability, and prosperity. We
will forever honor and cherish his enduring legacy and his invaluable
contributions to strengthening cooperation, and mutual respect among the
peoples of Asia and beyond. As Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee, we
reaffirm our unwavering commitment to uphold, preserve, and carry forward his
legacy through our collective work in ICAPP. May
he rest in peace in his heavenly abode. Chung Eui-yong Chairperson
of the ICAPP Standing Committee former
Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (February
