Sri Lanka President will be appointed Chairperson of ICAPP for next 2 yrs 18 September 2014
President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be appointed as the Chairperson of the ICAPP for next 2 years until it's 9th General Assembly said Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakody today (18) at a press conference held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Mass Media and Information.
This International Conference will be a better opportunity to showcase the development progress and social humanitarian process of Sri Lanka for the foreign powers and it will make a stage to create the economic, social, political and diplomatic relationships with other Asian countries said by Deputy Speaker. As the host country, Sri Lanka selected “Building an Asian Community” as the main theme of the conference. The opening ceremony of ICAPP will take place at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Friday (19). On the final day (21) of the conference, all members of ICAPP will visit Galle which is a historical, and archaeological heritage. The Colombo Declaration will be adopted and read at the Closing Session. Parallel to ICAPP, two sideline meetings - Youth Assembly under the patronage of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and a Women's Assembly under the patronage of MP Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle will be held. More than 450 youth members from Divisional Secretariats, Parliament, Youth Parliament and Youth Civil societies’ will be attending the Youth Assembly. Likewise, parallel numbers of women members in Divisional Secretariats, Parliament, Youth Parliament and Youth Civil societies’ are expected to attend the Women's Assembly.
