(ICAPP Update 23-41) Proposal for the Appointment of the New Secretary General

Dear Distinguished Members of the ICAPP Standing Committee,

Following the resignation of Ambassador Ahn Myung-soo from the position of Secretary General of the ICAPP Secretariat as was informed by ICAPP Update 23-40, dated July 27, 2013, I’d like to recommend the appointment of Hon. Kwon Hee-Seog, as the new Secretary General of the ICAPP Secretariat as of August 1, 2023.

The newly nominated Secretary General has served until recently as ambassador of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN, which was a Vice Minister level position based in Jakarta, Indonesia. His curriculum vitae is attached herewith. He had also served as ambassador to Italy.

In accordance with Para 1, Article 13 of the ICAPP Charter, the appointment shall be subject to confirmation at the 12^th General Assembly to be held in Phnom Penh in 2024. Until then, with your consent, Ambassador Kwon will be in charge of the general management of the Secretariat. In this regard, I’d like to request the SC Members to kindly respond to the above proposal for the appointment of the new Secretary-General at their earliest convenience, but no later than July 31, 2023.
